History of establishment and development of the enterprise
1985 – Decision of the Government of the USSR about construction of Kamsky Tractor Plant
1988 – Decision of the Government of the USSR about change the line of business of Kamsky Tractor Plant towards automotive production.
1992 – Decision of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan about setting up of small class vehicles production in Elabuga in the amount of 300 000 units per year.
1998, April 22 – The Law of the Republic of Tatarstan ¹ 1569 was adopted «About Free Economic Zone “Alabuga”, determining legal, economic and organizational basis of establishment and functioning of FEZ “Alabuga”.
2002 – The Agreement was signed with “Minsky tractor plant” (Republic of Byelorussia) on establishment of license assembly of tractors MTZ-82 and Belarus 1221 at ELAZ.
2003 ã – The main subdivision of ELAZ –Machine Tool Plant got a certificate of manufactured products correspondence to ISO 9001-2001 standards.
2005, February 18 – Formalizing of reorganization of State unitary enterprise RT “Production association ELAZ” into Open Joint Stock Company « Production association Elabuga Automotive Works» (OJSC «PA ELAZ»).
Today OJSC “PA ELAZ” specializes in production of automotive special machinery and equipment for oil and gas industry. The enterprise enters the Alliance of oil and gas equipment produces.
For this trend ELAZ cooperates with the biggest oil companies – OJSC «Gazprom, OJSC «NÊ Rosneft», OJSC «Lukoil», OJSC «Òàtneft», OJSC «Gazpromneft», as well as with service companies for repair and maintenance of oil and gas equipment in Nizhnevartovsk, Nefteyugansk, Raduzhny. Our partners for production of oil and gas equipment components are the well known companies as «ALNAS», «BORETS», «NOVOMET».
The other area of activity is the production of wheel tractors under the license of Minsky tractor plant and manufacture of municipal and road-construction special machinery on the base of MTZ tractors and different chassis of trucks.
Besides the above named equipment, the plant manufactures components and spare parts for vehicles KAMAZ, GAZ, VAZ, ZIL, URALAZ and is a member of the Russian automotive components producers Association "NAPAK". It also makes non standard equipment and fixtures for the automotive plants.
